
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 1: The Electricity Department, A&N Administration has informed the general public and valued electricity consumers that to mitigate the power paucity in Sri Vijaya Puram, the Department with continuous efforts under the guidance of A&N Administration had already installed and added 5.5 MW in the grid as informed in earlier communications by achieving the available capacity to 38.5 MW during evening peak hours thereby providing substantial relief to the consumers. In continuation of ongoing augmentation measures, the Phoenix Bay Power House achieved a significant milestone with the commissioning of 2.5 MW of additional in-house capacity on 23.11.2025, thereby enhancing the available capacity from 38.5 MW to 41 MW.
In addition to the above, revival work of the 1 MW redundant DG set at Bambooflat Power House is in progress and is expected to be completed by 10th December, 2025. Upon commissioning, the overall generation availability will reach to 42 MW, providing further relief in addressing the ongoing power shortage.
While the Electricity Department continues to make every possible effort through deployment of DG sets and Renewable Energy sources to meet the present demand. The consumers are earnestly requested to install Rooftop Solar (RTS) systems under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG-MBY). This initiative promotes energy self-reliance, allows consumers to avail both Central and UT subsidies and contributes to reducing dependence on diesel-based generation. Widespread adoption of RTS will greatly support de-dieselization, energy sustainability and the greening of our Islands.
