CEO A&N Islands Provides Details of Ongoing SIR of Electoral Roll to Political Party Representatives

Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 9: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Andaman &Nicobar Islands today convened a meeting with representatives of all recognized Political Parties to discuss and to provide details of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll-2026.  The meeting aimed to ensure transparency, cooperation and smooth execution of the revision activities as mandated by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The CEO briefed the participants on the extended schedule, procedures, and guidelines to be followed during SIR. The CEO stated that as per the extended schedule, the Enumeration will be done upto Dec. 11 while the Draft Electoral Rolls will be published on Dec. 16, 2025. He further informed that the period of filing claims & objection is from Dec. 16 to Jan. 15, 2026. Notice phase of (issuance, hearing & verification) is from Dec. 16 to Feb. 7, 2026. The Final Electoral Rolls will be published on Feb. 14, 2026.

Giving details of the current status of the SIR, the CEO said that a total of 2,43,532 enumeration forms has been collected and digitized taking the percentage of digitized Enumeration forms to 78.46% as on 9-12-2025. He said the number of uncollected Enumeration Forms is 66,852, the percentage of which stands at 21.54%. The number of tentative uncollected forms from all the 3 districts due to death is 9161, Permanently shifted is 23,346, already enrolled is 2,838, Absent/untraceable is 20,804 & others is 703. The CEO added that the BLOs are doing their best intense to contact the electors who are yet to submit their Enumeration Forms.

The CEO urged the Political Parties to support the Election Department/BLOs to collect the filled in Enumeration Forms from the electors of their respective areas and also mapping with last SIR.

At polling station level the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting meeting with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognized political parties and share the list of uncollectable Enumeration Forms. The Political Parties were urged to sensitize and advice their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to attend the BLO-BLA meeting for early resolution of all such uncollected EFs of the electors.

The CEO informed the Political Parties that those electors who have submitted the filled and signed Enumeration Form to BLOs are included in Draft Electoral Roll to be published on 16.12.2025. Unmapped electors 33,192 as on 09.12.2025. The number of unmapped electors is reducing. The unmapped electors will be issued Notices during Notice Phase from 16.12.2025 to 07.02.2026 by the AEROs. The electors will be required to submit any one of the indicative document prescribed by Election Commission of India. The left-out electors whose name is not appearing in the Draft Electoral Roll to be published on 16.12.2025 may submit Form-6 along with Declaration Form during claims and objections period (16.12.2025 to 15.01.2026) for inclusion and Fresh 18+ Electors may submit Form 6 & declaration Form for inclusion by 15.01.2026 whose name will be appear in Final Roll to be published on 14.02.2026. For any correction in existing entry or shifting within Andaman & Nicobar Islands the electors are required to submit Form 8. For persons now migrated from other States/UTs and desired to enroll in A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency are required to submit Form -8 along with declaration form for inclusion. 

The CEO requested the Political Parties to create and sensitize 18+ electors for enrollment in voter list so that they can participate in the voting process for a healthy democracy.

The Political Parties appreciated the effort of the CEO and the entire election officials/ election machinery including BLOs and BLAs for their pain staking efforts in preparing a transparent and accurate Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls for A&N Islands.  They further added that due to the better search facility provided by the Election Department, A&N Islands the process of mapping of the electors with last SIR was much easier. They also apprised the CEO that they will create awareness among the young voters and encourage them to enroll themselves in the voter list for a healthy democracy.

The CEO appreciated and thanked to the Political Parties and their Booth Level Agents for their cooperation throughout enumeration phase. The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to ensuring a smooth, transparent and accurate Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
