Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 8: The New Year Self Help Group (SHG) Mela, organized at Marina Park by the A&N Islands National Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM) under the aegis of the Department of Rural Development was held from Dec. 27, 2025 to Jan. 4, 2026. The Mela received an overwhelming response from the general public, resulting in encouraging sales and wide appreciation of SHG-made products.
A total of 154 SHG members showcased a diverse range of locally produced items, including handicrafts, ice creams, smoothies, coconut oil, soaps, pickles, snacks, fast food items, traditional sweets, and South Indian cuisines at the Marina Esplanade. SHG members from Sri Vijaya Puram as well as Tamil Nadu, Rangat, Mayabunder, and Diglipur also participated in the event.
The Mela recorded total sales amounting to approximately Rs. 4 lakhs, reflecting the strong market potential of SHG products. The participating SHG members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Rural Development and the A&N Administration for their continuous support and encouragement.
