Legal Service and Youth Awareness Programme Conducted as Part of National Youth Day in DBRAIT

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 12: On the occasion of National Youth Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in association with PRAYAS Juvenile Aid Centre (JAC), organised a Legal Services and Youth Awareness Programme at DBRAIT today. The programme was conducted with the objective of empowering students with legal awareness while inspiring them through the timeless teachings and ideals of Swami Vivekananda.

The event was graced by Shri Neyaz Alam, Learned Additional District & Sessions Judge, Port Blair, Shri Samrat Roy, Learned Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, A&N Islands, and Shri Anupam Sircar, Learned Judicial Magistrate First Class (Additional Court), Port Blair. The programme was also attended by Ms. Mariya Sheela, Regional Head, PRAYAS JAC, and Shri K. Vijay Kumar, Advisor, JAC. Students and faculty members of DBRAIT participated actively in large numbers.

During the programme, Shri Neyaz Alam, Ld. ADJ, sensitised the students on important social legislations such as the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, highlighting their relevance in protecting youth and society from crime, exploitation and substance abuse.

Shri Samrat Roy, Ld. Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, delivered an inspiring address on “We Are Children of Eternity”, elaborating on the life, philosophy and vision of Swami Vivekananda, and urging the students to imbibe his ideals of self-belief, character, discipline and service to the nation.

Shri Anupam Sircar, Ld. Judicial Magistrate, spoke on leadership, character and youth empowerment by reflecting upon the teachings and journey of Swami Vivekananda, and encouraged students to develop confidence, responsibility and moral strength in their personal and professional lives.

The programme successfully blended legal awareness with motivational guidance, leaving the students better informed about their rights and duties and deeply inspired by the message of ‘National Youth Day’.
