Pariksha Pe Charcha (Examination Stress Management) Conducted at Seva Niketan

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 22: The District Child Protection Unit under the District Administration, South Andaman in collaboration with PANKH NGO organized a program on ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ on Jan, 18 at the premises of Seva Niketan, Dairy Farm. The program was conducted for children from various Child Care Institutions of South Andaman who are studying in class 10th and 12th and appearing for the Board examination during the current academic year.

 The main objective of the program was to help the children to overcome their stress provide guidance on effective preparation strategies, and encourage a positive approach towards examination.

The programme commenced with the address of the Chief Guest Shri Swami Sudhanand Chinmaya, wherein Swami Ji explained that students should not fear with examinations, as fear creates negative thoughts that adversely affect performance. He emphasized the importance of self-confidence and maintaining a calm and focused mind while preparing for and appearing in examinations. Apart from this Swami ji also

shared several useful tips for exam preparation, such as avoiding late-night study and instead studying in the early morning hours to improve concentration and grasping power. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining physical and mental fitness through meditation and pranayama, and advised students to stay away from distraction and negative influence during their preparation period.

Later, Island topper K. Shruti, an ex- student of RGT School, who scored 97.9 % in the NEET examination and is, currently pursuing MBBS, shared her experience and study strategies with the students. She advised students to thoroughly follow NCERT textbook line by line, practice previous years question papers take regular breaks, and avoid using mobile phones during the breaks. She motivated students not to fear difficult subjects and emphasized that consistent practice is the key to success.

The next speaker Ms. Shivani Das, a student of class 10th, RGT School also an excellent performer, shared effective study techniques such as regular revision, reading, teaching concepts to others for better understanding explaining topics to friends, studying in groups and preparing a proper timetable.

The next resource person was Smti. Rita Banerjee, Principal RGT School and Ex-Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee. In her session, she provided valuable tips on effective preparation and skillful writing during examinations, focusing on pre-exam during-exam, and post-exam strategies. She also advised authorities of Child Care Institutions to provide extra care to children by arranging sample papers, guidance and a separate study room with a proper timetable. 

Later Ms Komal Anand, Co-founder of PANKH NGO encouraged students by stating that examinations should be viewed as a festival, as they bring learning and personal growth. She also advised students to communicate with elders to boost their confidence and to consider examinations as a positive step forward in life.

Altogether 35 children from various Child Care Institutions participated in the program. The District Administration remains committed to organize such meaningful programme to ensure the overall development, well-being, and bright future of children residing in Child Care Institutions.
