Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 30: The Chairman of the Campaign Committee of ANTCC Shri. TSG Bhasker has strongly objected to the reported use of government servants for purposes unrelated to their official duties, particularly to artificially mobilize crowds for various programmes, including political and non-political events.
In a representation submitted to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri G. Bhasker, stated that it has been increasingly observed that government employees are being deployed en masse to attend programmes merely to show crowd presence. Such practices, he emphasized, are contrary to established service rules and administrative ethics.
The Committee specifically pointed out that the last two programmes organized at Netaji Stadium were stage-managed events where government servants were reportedly compelled to participate. Shri Bhasker condemned this practice, stating that government employees are recruited to discharge public duties and not to serve as crowd fillers for events of any nature.
He has urged the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor to immediately put an end to this misuse of government staff and to ensure that such practices are not repeated in future programmes.
He further cautioned that if corrective measures are not taken, it would be compelled to seek legal remedy by filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) before the Hon’ble Court to protect the rights of government employees and uphold the rule of law.
A copy of the representation has also been forwarded to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, for necessary action.
