Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 4: Under the Official Language Incentive Scheme, an essay writing competition and extempore speech competition in Hindi was organized by the Directorate of Lighthouses and Lightships at the Government Senior Secondary School, School Line today under the guidance of Shri Dharamveer Shrivastava, Director, Directorate of Lighthouse and Lightships Sri Vijaya Puram. A total 44 students of grade IX participated in Hindi essay writing competition and 24 students of grade XI participated in extempore speech competition. Cash prize and certificates awarded to all the winners and consolation prize were distributed to all the participants.
The Rajbhasha Protsahan Yojana is an initiative of the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs. Its main purpose is to promote the progressive use of Hindi as the Official Language of the Union. Under this scheme, incentives and recognition are given for encouraging writing, drafting, noting, and correspondence in Hindi.
