World Oral Health Day – 2026 Observed in the Isles

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 20: The National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) under State Health Society – Union Territory Health Mission in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, observed World Oral Health Day – 2026 at JNRM. The National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) is a flagship initiative of the Government of India focuses on promoting preventive and promotive oral healthcare, strengthening infrastructure and human resources, and creating awareness about oral hygiene practices among the community, particularly among children and vulnerable populations.

The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and health officials which reinforced the message of this year’s theme, ‘A Happy Mouth is A Happy Life’, underscoring the importance of maintaining good oral health for overall quality of life.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr. H. M. Siddaraju, DHS, highlighted the importance of oral health in overall well-being while Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal, JNRM as the guest of honour emphasized the role of awareness and preventive care. The keynote addressed was delivered by Dr. Sanjiv Jaichand, Joint Secretary (NOHP), highlighting the significance of ‘World Oral Health Day’. This was followed by a Power Point presentation delivered by Dr. Hariharavel VP, Associate Professor (Pedodontist), ANIIMS, GB Pant Hospital, focusing on oral hygiene practices and preventive dental care. As part of the programme, prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz competition conducted in connection with the observance.
