World Environment Day Celebrated with Rang Utsav at State Library

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 5: World Environment Day 2025 was celebrated with Rang Utsav- a vibrant painting and Book reading competition for students in various categories at the State Library, Sri Vijaya Puram today. The theme of the competition was ‘One Nation One Mission: End Plastic Pollution’ with the aim to inspire young minds to think critically and creatively about environmental issues-, especially the urgent challenges of plastic pollution.

Shri L Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Education), A & N Administration was the chief guest of the function. The Secretary (Education), highlighted the importance of reducing plastic pollution and adopting sustainable practices and eco-friendly alternatives. He also stressed on the need to work together to protect our planet and ensure a healthy and sustainable future for all. He remarked that developing strong reading habits can enhance personal growth, and academic performance and urged the students to make optimum utilization of library resources.

Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Education), Shri Mohan Yadav, Director, Civil Supplies, Smti. Niharika Bhatt, Superintendent of Police and officials of the Education Department, Shri Gyan Sheel Dubey, HoO/Academic, Smti. Archana Singh, Deputy Director of Education (Planning) were also present on the occasion.

More than 300 students participated in the events which was open to students of all age groups in various categories, consisting of Primary, Middle, and Secondary levels. More than 25 divyang children also participated in the event. A Book Reading competition was also organized to promote a love for reading and to foster environmental awareness. The participants were tested on their comprehension, critical thinking and creative ability.

The NGO, CPREEC, Dakshin Foundation, Guru Ki Rasoi and Inner Wheel Club contributed prizes for the participants. Prizes and certificates were awarded to all winners on the occasion. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri Ram Parvesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science).
