
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 25: The Home Guard Organization, A&N Islands, today marked an important milestone with the successful conduct of the Validation Parade of 37 newly enrolled Home Guard Volunteers at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Police Training School, Sri Vijaya Puram. The Inspector General of Police, Smti Geeta Rani Verma, IPS graced the occasion and congratulated the volunteers for successfully completing their training and joining the ranks of the organization.
The batch comprises 26 male and 11 female volunteers deployed across various trades including Security Guards, Drivers, Cooks, Sweepers, Dinghy Operators, Gardeners and other technical roles, reflecting both inclusivity and operational readiness. These 37 volunteers were enrolled in the final phase of the recent recruitment process conducted by the Home Guard Organization.
Earlier, a major recruitment drive was undertaken during 2025–26 to fill 542 Home Guard Volunteer vacancies, one of the largest in recent years. Out of the initially selected candidates, 500 are presently serving after completion of police verification and educational and medical examinations. The remaining vacancies were filled from the merit list, out of which these 37 candidates were successfully enrolled after due verification.
All enrolled volunteers underwent structured training covering essential areas such as drill, discipline, disaster response, firefighting, first aid and public safety duties, preparing them for effective field deployment. The successful conduct of their Validation Parade signifies their readiness to serve and contribute to maintaining law and order, disaster management and community assistance across the Islands.
