Ayushman Arogya Shivir Organised at Labour Commissioner’s Office as Part of 100 Days Campaign for TB Mukt Bharat

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 1: As part of the ongoing TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – 100 Days Campaign, the District Health Society, South Andaman (NHM), under the guidance of Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, has organized an Ayushman Arogya Shivir with a special focus on the urban vulnerable population under the TB Free Workplace Initiative at the Office of the Labour Commissioner, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The health camp saw active participation from staff and beneficiaries. Essential health services, including blood pressure (BP) measurement, blood sugar testing, weight assessment, and tuberculosis (TB) screening, was provided. Chest X-ray facilities were also made available to facilitate early detection and diagnosis of TB.

Extending outreach beyond the workplace, another Ayushman Arogya Shivir was organized for labourers at construction sites. The camps were held at locations opposite the Sports Complex and at Alaikadal Ayyanar Temple, ensuring access to healthcare services for workers who may otherwise have limited opportunities for routine check-ups.

The general public is advised that individuals experiencing symptoms of TB, such as a persistent cough lasting more than two weeks, fever, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, or blood in sputum—should promptly visit the nearest health centre for screening and early diagnosis. TB is curable, and free diagnosis and treatment are available at all government health facilities.

Such coordinated efforts by the District Health Society, South Andaman (District TB Unit), State TB Unit, and the Directorate of Health Services play a crucial role in advancing the vision of TB-free wards and panchayats. These initiatives significantly contribute to the larger goal of the TB Mukt Bharat Mission under the National TB Elimination Programme.
