AC Nancowry Hands Over Keys of Mortuary Vans to Chairperson of Kamorta and Nancowry During ITF 2025

Nancowrie, Jan. 9: On behalf of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, the Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry, Shri Aditya Sangotra, formally handed over the keys of mortuary vans to the Chairperson of the Tribal Council of Kamorta and Nancowry in presence of Village Headmen and members of the Tribal Councils during the Island Tourism Festival 2025 held at Indira Park, Kamorta yesterday.

The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, received this demand from all the Tribal Councils. Acting on his guidance and timely intervention, the District Administration initiated the procurement process, culminating in the provision and formal handover of mortuary vans for Kamorta and Nancowry Islands during ITF 2025.

Village Captains and members of the Tribal Councils expressed their sincere gratitude to the Chief Secretary, the Secretary (Tribal Welfare), and the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, for addressing a critical community requirement and fulfilling a long-pending aspiration of the tribal population. It may be recalled that mortuary vans for Katchal and Chowra Islands were earlier procured and handed over to the respective Tribal Councils on the occasion of Independence Day-2025, reflecting the Administration’s consistent commitment to tribal welfare across Nicobar District.

The initiative aims to strengthen essential services, uphold the dignity of tribal communities, and ensure due respect for their cultural practices and traditions, reaffirming the Administration’s people-centric and culturally sensitive approach to governance.
