Sri Vijaya Puram, July 27: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), through the Senior Veterinary Officer, Veterinary Hospital Garacharma and team, conducted a comprehensive Veterinary Health Camp at Annapurna Gaushala, Calicut on 25th July, 2026.
During the camp, systematic health monitoring of the animals was carried out. A total of 23 blood samples and 22 dung samples were collected and sent to the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL), Dollygunj for detailed laboratory examination. The samples were tested for blood protozoa, blood parasites, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Renal Function Test (RFT), Liver Function Test (LFT) and serum electrolytes to assess the overall health status of the animals.
For proper identification and record keeping, one damaged ear tag was replaced with a new ear tag and two newly inducted animals were tagged. A total of 24 animals were dewormed as a preventive health measure. Feed supplements—Profeed and liquid Phytocal Ruchi — were also provided to support the nutritional requirements and improve the general condition of the animals.
The caretaker of the Gaushala was advised in detail regarding scientific feeding practices. Emphasis was laid on the balanced provision of green fodder, dry matter, concentrate feed and adequate clean drinking water for better animal health, productivity and overall welfare.
