AH&VS in Collaboration with Department of RD, PRIs & ULBs Inaugurates Pashu Sakhi Training Programme

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 16: The Department of AH&VS in collaboration with the Department of RD, PRIs & ULBs inaugurated the Pashu Sakhi training programme yesterday. The initiative aims to empower rural women with essential animal husbandry skills to support livestock farmers and promote sustainable practices across remote villages.  

Addressing the gathering, Shri Apurva Sharma, Director, Rural Development, and Dr. K.A. Naveen, Director, AH&VS, motivated participants to approach the six-week training with dedication. They emphasized the program’s potential to transform rural women’s lives and strengthen community animal husbandry by equipping them with practical skills to assist farmers effectively.

Block Development Offices and Senior Veterinary Officers from North and Middle Andaman, South Andaman, and Nicobar District attended, with many joining online to ensure comprehensive representation.

Ms. Reshma from the Rural Development Department and Dr. Subramaniam, Senior Veterinary Officer, highlighted the Government of India center-sponsored scheme’s objectives of achieving financial stability and empowerment for rural women through specialized animal care training.
