Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 16: In pursuance of Notification No. 9-170/LS/2018/PF-I/3258 dated 27th June 2025, concerning the regulated movement of heavy vehicles over the Chatham Bridge and in light of the detailed inspection and technical recommendations by the Port Management Board, Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works and Andaman Public Works Department, it is hereby conveyed for the information of the general public that the movement of all categories of vehicles are hereby permitted up to the landward-side hard embankment surface area of the New Vehicle Ferry Jetty at Chatham.
This restriction has been imposed to ensure structural safety, prevent undue load on vulnerable sections of the bridge and adjoining infrastructure and facilitate the smooth and secure operation of vehicular and ferry-related activities in the area.
All concerned departments, enforcement agencies and transport operators are directed to maintain strict adherence to these instructions. Any deviation or non-compliance will be viewed seriously, as the measures are essential for safeguarding public safety and ensuring uninterrupted traffic management, an Order passed by the District Magistrate, South Andaman informed.
