Sri Vijaya Puram, April 13: The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) observed its 90th foundation day on 11th April 2026 throughout the country. Various programmes were organized at different parts of the country to mark the Foundation Day. In Andaman & Nicobar Islands, a meeting was held at Diglipur by A & N State Committee of AIKS. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gouranga Majhi, President, AIKS State Committee said that it was on this day in 1936, kisan leaders from different parts of the country who gathered at Lucknow for the All India Congress Committee Session participated in a meeting of farmers at Lucknow and formed the All India Kisan Sabha under the leadership of Swami Sahajanand Saraswati.
Dr Gouranga Majhi said that during the last 90 years, AIKS in the country had conducted several historical struggles with various demands of farmers. He said that AIKS is the largest kisan organization in the country.
Addressing the meeting, Ramjeeban Sarkar, Vice President, AIKS State Committee and former Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Kalighat spoke of the valiant struggle conducted by farmers during 2019- 2020 against three anti-kisan laws passed by the Parliament. He said that farmers are being neglected in Andaman & Nicobar Islands under the Modi-raj.
The programme began with the hoisting of AIKS flag in front of the AIKS office at Diglipur by Dr Gouranga Majhi. Several AIKS leaders from different parts of Diglipur Tehsil participated in the programme.
