Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 11: The Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) is delighted to invite all Islanders to join the celebrations commemorating the 80″h Independence Day of the nation
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, a Live Band Concert by the Army and Navy will be organised at Flag Point, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 13 and 14 August 2026 from 1630hrs to 1730hrs (04:30 – 05:30 PM). The concert is being organised as part of the nationwide initiative to promote patriotism, national pride and the spirit of unity among citizens. The programme will be open to all Islanders
The musical performances will feature a vibrant repertoire of patriotic and popular compositions, showcasing the musical prowess of the Armed Forces and creating a festive atmosphere ahead of Independence Day
Adding to the celebrations, ships and vessels of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) will undertake joint illumination at anchorage off the Marina Flag Point sea front from 13 to 15 August 2026, between 1745hrs and 2200hrs (05:45 -10:00 PM)
A special highlight of the celebrations on 15 August 2026 will be the synchronised firing of colourful flares and switching on of contour illumination lights by the participating ships at 1739 hrs, creating a spectacular visual display over the waters of Sri Vijaya Puram
The combined musical performances and illumination of ships are intended to add colour and grandeur to the Independence Day celebrations while reinforcing the spirit of patriotism, unity and national pride
All Islanders are cordially invited to witness and be part of these celebrations at Flag Point and the Marina sea front, Sri Vijaya Puram.
