Andaman & Nicobar Chess Players Shine at National Under-9 Chess Championship

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 12: Four young chess players from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands represented the Union Territory at the prestigious National Under-9 Chess Championship held in Jharkhand. The championship witnessed the participation of around 430 players from across India, making it one of the most competitive events for young chess talents in the country.

The Andaman & Nicobar contingent comprised two boys and two girls, who displayed commendable performances against some of the nation’s best young players.

The standout performer from the Islands was Saw Jinson Samuel, who scored an impressive 7.5 points out of 11 rounds, securing a place among the Top 20 players in the championship. His remarkable performance also earned him a cash prize of ₹4,000.

The performances of the other participants were as follows:

M Ritwik – 5.5 points out of 11 rounds.

Aradhya Rai – 4.5 points out of 11 rounds.

Shreenika N – 4 points out of 11 rounds.

The participation and achievements of these young players have brought pride to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and reflect the growing standard of chess in the Union Territory.

The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) congratulates all four players for their commendable performances and wishes them continued success in their future tournaments.
