Andaman & Nicobar State Open Chess Championship 2026 to be held from September 11–13

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 12: The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) is organizing the Andaman & Nicobar State Open Chess Championship 2026 from 11th to 13th September 2026 at Multi-Purpose Hall, CPWD, Ranchi Basti, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The three-day championship will be conducted under FIDE Chess Regulations using the Swiss System, with a total of nine rounds. The time control will be 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move, providing approximately two hours of playing time per game.

The championship carries a total prize money of ₹1,00,000/- along with 60 trophies. The Open Category will feature prizes up to the 20th position, while separate trophy categories have been provided for Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15 and Under-19 boys and girls, along with Best Youngest, Best Veteran (50+) and Best Women (21+) awards.

Participation is restricted to 250 players due to venue limitations, and entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Players from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are eligible to participate, and AICF registration for 2026–27 is mandatory. The entry fee is ₹1,000 per player, with the last date for registration being 26th August 2026 at 6:00 PM. Players are advised to register early to secure their participation.
