Andaman & Nicobar Police Implements Special Grade Designations; Pipping Ceremonies Held Across All Units and Districts

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 30: On 30th January 2026, the Andaman and Nicobar Police implemented the Special Grade designations as announced earlier, as an interim measure to recognize merit and long years of dedicated and meritorious service. Under this initiative, 1,387 Constables who had completed 15 years of service with the 1st MACP were granted the designation of Head Constable (Special Grade), while 239 Head Constables who had completed 25 years of service, including five years as Head Constable with 1st and 2nd MACP, were designated to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector (Special Grade). To mark the occasion, pipping ceremonies were conducted simultaneously across all Police Units and Districts of the Union Territory, presided over by senior officers who congratulated the deserving personnel for their professionalism and commitment to duty.

The Andaman & Nicobar Police fraternity expressed sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, and Shri Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, for their continued encouragement and unwavering commitment to the welfare and morale of the Police force.
