
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 14: The Milk Division of the A&N Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANIIDCO) has introduced it’s first-ever Milk Carts at Marina Park and Bathu Basti, along with a new Milk Parlour at Swaraj Dweep.
The facilities were virtually inaugurated today by Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration & Chairman, ANIIDCO in the presence of Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Managing Director, Smt. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Executive Director (Milk Plant), Shri Mohd. Pervaiz, General Manager, I/C (Milk Plant), Shri Basuki Nath, Company Secretary-cum-General Manager (P&A), and other officials of ANIIDCO and A&N Administration.
After the inauguration, Chief Secretary interacted with members of the Self Help Groups (SHGs) who will operate the newly introduced Milk Carts and encouraged the SHG members to maintain hygiene, quality and customer satisfaction in their operations and appreciated their enthusiasm and commitment.
At Marina Park, the cart will be operated by Ms. Sree Laxmi of Rani Sindiya SHG and at Bathubasti by Ms. Santhi of Victory SHG. The involvement of SHGs aims to promote women’s empowerment and livelihood generation while ensuring the availability of milk and milk products to the general public.
The event at Bathubasti and Marina Park was also attended by Councilor, Ward No. 19, Shri. V. Vetriveli and Councilor, Ward No. 5, Smti. S. Selvi who appreciated ANIIDCO’s initiative in supporting SHG-based entrepreneurship.
With the introduction of these three new Units, the Milk Carts at Marina Park and Bathubasti, and the Milk Parlour at Swaraj Dweep, it is estimated that an additional Rs. 10 to Rs. 12 lakh per month in sales will be generated for the Milk Division in the initial months contributing significantly to the growth of ANIIDCO’s dairy operations.
The Senior Manager (Milk Plant), Shri Rajendra Kumar briefed about the functioning of the Milk Carts. Additionally, he informed that the Mobile Milk Parlour which was inaugurated by Chief Secretary on Aug. 28, 2025 has received an overwhelming public response, achieving sales of around Rs. 1.3 lakh during the last one month.
The Chief Secretary appreciated the field staff for their commendable efforts and teamwork in making this project a success.
