Sri Vijaya Puram, July 21: The A&N Islands Rural Livelihoods Mission (ANIRLM), under the aegis of the Directorate of Rural Development, A&N Administration, organized a two-day Moringa Value Addition Training Programme on July 20 & 21 in the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Rural Development.
A total of 35 Self Help Group (SHG) members from C.D. Blocks Prothrapur and Ferrargunj participated in the programme. The training aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing the income-generating capabilities of rural women through value addition of Moringa-based products.
During the session, SPM ANIRLM, briefed the participants on the importance of formation of Producer Groups, collective business planning, PMFME support, branding and marketing strategies, digital marketing platforms, FSSAI registration and market linkages.
During the training, participants received hands-on practical demonstrations on the preparation of Moringa Powder, Moringa Soup Powder, Moringa Tea, and Moringa Soap, along with guidance on packaging, branding, quality control, and marketing of these products.
The trained SHG members will form Producer Groups (PGs) to undertake collective procurement of raw materials, production, packaging, branding and marketing of Moringa-based products. They will also be facilitated for obtaining FSSAI registration, availing benefits under the PMFME Scheme, and establishing sustainable micro-enterprises.
The initiative forms part of the ongoing efforts of ANIRLM to strengthen rural livelihoods and create sustainable income opportunities and enabling the members in becoming Lakhpati Didis.
