Sri Vijaya Puram, May 19: In a strong show of solidarity and outrage, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), in coordination with the Minority Congress and Mahila Congress, organized a protest to vehemently condemn the derogatory remarks made by BJP Minister Shri Kunwar Vijay Shah against the nation’s brave daughter and Army Officer, Col. Sofiya Qureshi.
The Protest was held on 17th May 2025 at Haddo, Ward No. 2 under the leadership of ANTCC President Shri Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Shri. TSG Bhasker.
The protest witnessed passionate participation from party workers and supporters, who raised slogans against the BJP Minister’s unacceptable statement. The gathering sent a clear message that such disrespect towards a decorated officer and symbol of national pride will not be tolerated.
The protest was addressed by several Senior Congress leaders, including Shri Rangalal Halder, Shri TSG Bhasker, ANTCC Spokesperson Shri. Tamil Selvan, District Congress President Shri John Robert Babu, City Congress President Shri Mohd Zubair, Mahila Congress President Smt. Zubaida Begum, and Mahila Senior Leader Smt. Ratna Kannan. All of them emphasized the need to uphold the dignity of womens in uniform and called for an immediate resignation and action against the Minister.
The Congress leaders firmly stands with the armed forces and protecting the honor of every Indian, especially those who serve the nation with bravery and distinction.
The Protest was attended by Several Congress Party Workers, Block Congress, Mahila Congress Leaders, Fisherman Congress Committee, SVPMC Councilors and General Public.
