Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 9: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) President, Shri Rangalal Halder, has written to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration highlighting the hardships faced by commuters and Islanders at the Parlobjig 15 No. Check Post, Kadamtala, particularly during early morning hours and adverse weather conditions.
In his letter, Shri Halder pointed out the absence of basic public facilities, including toilets and bathrooms, which causes immense inconvenience to women, children, and elderly passengers who gather at the check post while waiting for the early morning convey.
He urged the Administration to immediately initiate the construction of restroom and toilet blocks to ensure dignity and comfort for the public.
Shri Halder also requested the Administration to revise the convey timing from 4:00 AM to 3:30 AM. He stated that the earlier timing would help reduce overcrowding and long waiting hours, especially until the proposed facilities are fully constructed.
He further noted that a similar situation exists at Jirkatang, where travelers often wait overnight for the early morning convoy. He urged the Administration to provide adequate night shelter facilities at Jirkatang as well.
Terming these issues as genuine public grievances, the ANTCC President called upon the Administration to take immediate and appropriate action in the interest of the citizens of the Islands.
