Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 12: The Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) has invited tenders for the repair of the Chatham Causeway Bridge at Sri Vijaya Puram, an essential link connecting Sri Vijaya Puram city with Chatham Island. The tender was floated on Dec. 9, 2025, and will be opened on Jan. 2, 2026.
Being a construction of 1919, the bridge has experienced significant wear and tear due to heavy traffic movement and challenging weather conditions over the years. Report from NIT, Tiruchirappalli recommended certain structural repair which would make the bridge operational again.
