Sri Vijaya Pura, May 11: An Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse and Prevention was conducted yesterday at Calicut Gram Panchayat under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The event was organized by the Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with the Police Department, Health Department and the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA). The session focused on the detrimental effects of alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse on individual health, family dynamics, and broader social well-being. It highlighted the strong correlation between substance abuse, criminal behavior, and public safety issues. In addition to raising awareness, the programme also addressed key aspects of the rehabilitation process, societal challenges linked to addiction, and strategies for effective community engagement and prevention.
Participants were informed about the support systems available to individuals and families affected by substance abuse.
