Awareness Programme on Health & Hygiene Organised for Teenage Girls

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 27: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women under Social Welfare Department conducted an awareness programme today for teenage girls on Health & Hygiene. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services at Anganwadi Center of South point area and was attended by 44 participants.

The participants were addressed by Dr. HM Siddaraju, Deputy Director, Family Welfare, DHS & Smt. Asha Gain, ANM, Family Welfare, DHS. Dr. Siddaraju encouraged the young girls to eat balanced & nutritious diet to avoid Anemia and other health issues. He also stressed on the health issues related to early marriage and teenage pregnancies. Smt. Asha Gain, discussed the importance of menstrual hygiene in teenage girls and encouraged them to maintain personal hygiene to avoid common infections and diseases. The program was coordinated Smt. Hemlatha and Smt. P Deepa Laxmi (Gender specialist) while creating awareness about the scheme of State Hub for empowerment of Women.

The event concluded with an interactive session between ANM and participants, encouraging maintaining good health and hygiene for healthy living. The program was conducted under the guidance of Shri. Ravinder Kumar (Director, of Social Welfare) and Ms. Reeta Devi (Nodal Officer, SHEW).
