Awareness Programme on Unique Disability ID Organised at PHC Tushnabad and Ferrargunj

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 29: An awareness programme on the Unique Disability ID (UDID) Scheme was organized by the Directorate of Social Welfare on 29th April, 2026 at 9:30 am at PHC Tushnabad and Ferrargunj, as part of its focused initiative to extend awareness on the UDID Scheme to rural areas of South Andaman, ensuring that Persons with Disabilities in these areas are able to access government benefits and services. The programme was attended by the Medical Officers of PHC Tushnabad and Ferrargunj, along with Anganwadi Workers, medical staff, and the general public. During the programme, the State Coordinator (UDID), spoke about the UDID certification process and technical aspects related to registration, encouraging eligible beneficiaries to register under the scheme. Resource person from CRC Brookshabad elaborated on the types of disabilities and medical assessment process, including the facility of tele-conferencing for assessment of bedridden Persons with Disabilities, and highlighted the various support services and benefits provided by CRC. Disability Incharge, spoke about the various government benefits and schemes available for Divyangjans, emphasizing the importance of obtaining a UDID card to avail these services.

The programme aimed at creating awareness and promoting registration under the UDID Scheme to ensure better access to government benefits and services for Persons with Disabilities and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the support and participation of all attendees.
