Sri Vijaya Puram, May 31: The Ayush Wing of the Directorate of Health Services and the A&N State Ayush Society (NAM) successfully organized a special yoga session for jail inmates with the aim of promoting physical health, mental well-being, and emotional balance through the practice of yoga on May 27.
The programme was conducted in the presence of Shri. Mohammed Iqbal, (Jailor), and Shri. P.V.K. Vinod Kumar (Chief Head Warder), whose support and encouragement contributed to the successful conduct of the session.
The yoga session was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Nandini, MO I/c (Y & N), and was led by Shri Gunasekhar, (Yoga Therapist), Ayush Hospital who guided the inmates through yoga postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation practices.
During the session, the inmates were introduced to the benefits of yoga for improving flexibility, strength, and posture, along with breathing exercises and relaxation techniques to reduce stress and anxiety. The session emphasized that regular yoga practice can improve concentration, enhance emotional control, support better sleep, and promote a positive and disciplined lifestyle.
The inmates actively participated in the session with great enthusiasm and appreciated the opportunity to experience the therapeutic and calming benefits of yoga.
