Mayabunder, Jan. 24: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) under the Directorate of Social Welfare conducted a three days’ workshop in the Mayabunder Panchayat hall focusing on strengthening local traditional businesses of the Karen community through improved market and bank linkages.
Dr. Nitu Sindhu (State Mission Coordinator, SHEW), Shri Pratap Golder (Technical Assistant, Coir), Shri S. R. Vikas (Industries Promotion Officer), Smti. Hemlata (Project Coordinator, CHL, Mayabunder) as Resouce Persons of the workshop highlighted various self-employment opportunities for local youth of Mayabunder, encouraging them to take up entrepreneurship based on locally available resources and traditional skills of the Karen community.
The programme concluded with a call for collective efforts among stakeholders to support local businesses of the Karen community and ensure sustainable economic development in Mayabunder.
