Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 24 (PIB): Shri Kumar, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, along with Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, District Electoral Officer (DEO), South Andaman, addressed the media today at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to provide a comprehensive update on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
The CEO informed that 99% of the printed enumeration forms have already been distributed to voters across the Islands. As part of the intensive door-to-door campaign, 66% of the duly filled forms have been collected, ensuring significant progress in the verification process. To extend support to citizens, dedicated help desks have been established at the CEO and DEO offices and across all 9 Taluk offices. 411 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and 824 political party representatives are actively engaged in facilitating the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) activities.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has notified 4th December as the last date for SIR-related field activities, while 9th December is the final deadline for citizens to submit their forms. From 9th December to 8th January, voters may file claims and objections, including requests for addition, deletion, or correction of names in the electoral roll.
Shri. Kumar encouraged all residents to reach out to the toll-free helpline 1950, contact their respective BLOs, or visit their designated polling booths for guidance. He asked that the New voters must submit Form 6, accompanied by the necessary declaration. Students, professionals, and others temporarily residing outside the Islands may submit relevant documents through family members. The ECI has also made online services available to simplify SIR-related submissions.
The CEO appealed to all eligible voters of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands to actively participate in the democratic process by completing the SIR formalities and ensuring that every eligible citizen is enrolled in the electoral roll.
