Swaraj Dweep, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, during his visit to Swaraj Dweep, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, led an impactful environmental initiative in alignment with the theme—’Ending Plastic Pollution – #BeatPlasticPollution’. The Chief Secretary spearheaded a tree plantation drive at Radhanagar Beach and Dolphin Resort, reinforcing the Administration’s commitment to sustainable practices and ecological restoration. During the event, the Chief Secretary emphasized the urgent need to combat plastic pollution. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and inspire community participation in conservation efforts.
As part of the day’s observance, the Swaraj Dweep Forest Division also organized an awareness rally, cleanliness drives, mangrove plantation, tidal walk, nature trail and bird-watching events in Swaraj Dweep.
