Sri Vijaya Puram, May 15: The Coastal Security Exercise “Sagar Kavach – SKV BLUE-01/26” conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 0600 hrs on 14th May, 2026 to 1800 hrs on 15th May, 2026 was successfully completed with active participation and coordination among all stakeholder agencies.

The exercise was aimed at validating the existing coastal security mechanism through simulation of intrusion attempts by Red Force elements from the seaward side and simulated attacks on land-based Vital Areas/Vital Points (VA/VPs). Various operational scenarios were exercised to assess preparedness, response capability, inter-agency coordination and surveillance mechanisms in the maritime and coastal domains.

During the course of the exercise, the simulated Red Force elements attempting intrusion were successfully detected and apprehended by the participating security agencies, thereby demonstrating the effectiveness of the existing coastal security and response mechanism.

The Andaman & Nicobar Police played a significant role in the successful conduct of the exercise by demonstrating exemplary commitment and professionalism through effective deployment of manpower and material resources across the Islands. Police personnel were strategically deployed at identified VA/VPs and coastal areas, while available marine assets were actively utilized for intensive coastal patrolling and surveillance operations during the exercise period.

The exercise witnessed seamless coordination between the participating agencies, thereby strengthening the coastal security architecture of the Union Territory and enhancing preparedness against potential maritime security threats.

The general public is sincerely thanked for their cooperation and support during the conduct of the exercise.
