Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 28: All commercial vehicle owners, operators and drivers have been informed that as per the directions of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, overloading beyond permissible limits and transportation of commercial or combustible goods in buses, including sleeper coaches are prohibited under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Strict action will be taken against overloading of vehicles and illegal carrying of commercial goods in passenger buses. Overloaded vehicles will attract penalties, detention of vehicles, mandatory offloading of excess and permits may be suspended or cancelled for violations and vehicle owners will be held responsible for offences.
All vehicle owners and operators have been requested to follow traffic rules and permit conditions to ensure safety of commuters as well as other road users.
