
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 7: A One-Day Orientation-cum-Training Programme on Pension and Pay Fixation was organised by the Chief Pay & Accounts Office, A&N Administration today in the Seminar Hall of TGCE, Sri Vijaya Puram, with the objective of sensitizing Heads of Offices and dealing staff on pension rules, pay fixation procedures and common procedural deficiencies noticed in pension cases. The programme was inaugurated by lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Dr. Sachin Shinde, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Finance), in the gracious presence of Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary, A&N Administration and Shri S Dasgupta, Director of Accounts & Budget.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sachin Shinde emphasised that pension cases should not be treated merely as files or routine official matters, but as issues concerning the welfare and dignity of retired employees and their families. He stressed that after rendering years of dedicated service, every employee should receive all pensionary benefits promptly on the date of retirement without being made to wander from office to office.
Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary, A&N Administration, also emphasised the importance of proper understanding of pension procedures and urged all participants to make effective use of the knowledge shared during the programme so that pensionary benefits, being the rightful entitlement of retiring employees, are released on time without delay.
Shri S Dasgupta, Director of Accounts & Budget, informed that the worthy Chief Secretary, A&N Admn. is particularly concerned about the timely settlement of pension cases and that the status of such cases is being regularly reviewed at higher levels.
The programme was conducted in two shifts. The morning session was attended by more than 150 participants comprising Heads of Offices and dealing staff from various Departments of Sri Vijaya Puram region, while around 100 participants attended the afternoon session, including officials from Forest and APWD Divisions and Wimberlygunj region. In addition, around 100 officials from far-flung areas, joined the programme through online mode.
Technical sessions on Pension Matters and Pay Fixation were conducted by Shri M. Mohammed Ashraf, Senior Accounts Officer & Smti Sameera Thoufique, Assistant Accounts Officer respectively.
