CPI (M) Conducts Corner Meetings at Sri Vijaya Puram

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 17: CPI (M) Port Blair City Area Committee has conducted corner meetings at different parts of Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram) town on 16.06.2026, highlighting various burning issues of the people. D. Laxman Rao, Secretary, South Andaman Rural Area Committee, P. Sathyapal, Secretary, Port Blair City Area Committee, SP Kalairajan, SOC Member and KG Samkutty, Port Blair City Area Committee Member spoke at the corner meetings.

Speaking at the corner meetings, CPI (M) leaders criticized the Modi government for the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities.  They also briefly explained the recent hike in the LPG, Petrol and Diesel prices in the country and its adverse impact on the people, especially the poor. 

They criticized the BJP and Congress which rule the Municipal Council turn-wise for the water scarcity in the Municipal area.  They also came down heavily on the above parties for the unhygienic condition of the Port Blair town.  Most of the footpaths and municipal roads are in worst condition.  Choked drainages, uneven and broken footpaths, blocked pathways, congested roadsides are the normal look of the Port Blair town which authorities termed as “Smart City”.  They said that after winning the   Municipal elections, the BJP and Congress and their allied parties did not take any step to provide basic civic amenities to the city dwellers of Port Blair.  CPI (M) leaders criticized the BJP and Congress for the frequent power cut in the town.
