
Kadamtala, Aug. 11: As part of the ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ initiative, the North & Middle Andaman, District Administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner, Smti. Nandini Maharaj, IAS and Assistant Commissioner, Middle Andaman, Shri Vikash Kumar, has taken significant steps toward resolving public grievances and expediting pending matters. During her visit to Kadamtala, she conducted an interactive session with PRI members and local residents, addressing key concerns and ensuring swift redressal. As part of this initiative, a Revenue Camp Court, under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (N&MA), Mayabunder, was organized at Zilla Parishad Hall, Kadamtala, where hearings of cases related to Subdivision, name correction, Mutation were conducted and orders related to these cases were distributed to the residents of the region and she also brought long-awaited relief to a 86-year-old settler, Shri Sunil Biswas and his family members, by correcting an error in land records that had persisted for decades.
Shri. Biswas and his siblings are the descendants of a Bengali settler who arrived in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands under the Government Resettlement Scheme of 1954, had been struggling for years due to a clerical mistake in the Record of Rights (RoR). His relation name was erroneously recorded in revenue records, making it impossible for him to transfer land to his family. Despite multiple attempts, the issue remained unresolved. Acknowledging the legal and emotional hardship he faced, Smti. Maharaj, promptly reviewed the case and issued the orders of correction. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Shri. Biswas and his family expressed heartfelt appreciation for the swift and compassionate resolution.
During her visit, she also inspected key development projects in Kadamtala, Shantanu and Uttara villages, including the Garbage Dumping yard, Garbage Segregation Unit, PMAY Cluster, Amrit Sarovar, Dinghi Ghat, under construction school building, Uttara Gram Panchayat and VKZPV. Additionally, she visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Kadamtala, where she interacted with doctors and medical staff to assess ongoing challenges and ensure improved healthcare services for the public.
Reaffirming her commitment to efficient governance and citizen welfare, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for time-bound resolutions to long-pending matters. Her proactive approach, supported by the District Administration highlights the Administration’s dedication to enhancing public services and addressing land and development issues without unnecessary delays.
