
Car Nicobar, Aug. 17: The renovated and modernized District Library, Car Nicobar, was inaugurated by Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, in the gracious presence of Ms. Nandini Maharaj, IAS and Shri Lionald Nicomede, Chairman, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar.
The project has been undertaken with the assistance under the National Mission on Libraries (NML) Ministry of Culture, Government of India, with the aim of providing students and the community with improved facilities for reading, learning and creative development.
The programme included the inauguration and inspection of the renovated library and its upgraded facilities, including the Musical Art Room– “CHOUK MAHAKOP TINKOOKO” followed by a musical presentation by the students of GSSS, Lapathy.
In his address, Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District encouraged students to visit the library regularly, cultivate reading habits and make full use of the facilities and learning resources available. He emphasized that the library should become a vibrant centre of learning and knowledge for the children and youth of Car Nicobar.
Ms. Nandini Maharaj, IAS, A& N Administration also interacted with the students and urged them to freely use the library, music room and all study materials provided.
In his welcome address, Shri Swapan Paik, Education Officer, Car Nicobar highlighted the importance of the modernized library in promoting reading, learning and creativity among students.
Smt. Everlyn, Vice Principal, GSSS Malacca proposed the vote of thanks.
