
Car Nicobar June 1: As part of the Government of India’s initiative “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore”, Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, undertook a field visit to Kinyuka and Chuckchucha villages on May 31, 2025. He was accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner (HQ)/Project Officer, ITDP, and senior officials from key Departments including Rural Development, APWD, Health, Education, ICDS, Agriculture, Fisheries, AH&VS, and the District Child Protection Office.
The visit aimed at reviewing ground-level issues and ongoing developmental activities in the villages. The Deputy Commissioner held interactions with Tribal Council Captains and local villagers, listening to their concerns regarding village infrastructure, service accessibility, and livelihood opportunities.
During the visit, he inspected major public infrastructure such as community halls, tsunami shelters, El-Panam, schools, roads, powerhouses, Health Sub-Centres, Anganwadi Centres, RO water purification plants, and other critical community assets to assess their functionality and service delivery.
Based on the assessments, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Departments to take up improvements of rural roads under the PMGSY scheme and to carry out repair and maintenance of community halls and El-Panam. He called for the creation of community toilet facilities, a village-wise survey of unemployed youth to ensure proper skilling and linkage with job opportunities.
He emphasized the need to fast-track the construction of the Health Sub-Centre at Chuckchucha to improve healthcare access in the area. The Deputy Commissioner urged all Departments to address the critical issues highlighted during the visit with urgency and ensure timely action.
