DC N&M Andaman Conducts ‘Sampark Se Samadhan – Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ at Baratang

Mayabunder, Oct. 11: In continuation of the two-day visit to Baratang Island, Shri Sushant Padha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman District, visited various locations yesterday under the District Administration’s public outreach initiative, ‘Sampark Se Samadhan – Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’, to review public amenities, assess the progress of developmental works and address issues affecting local residents. He was accompanied by Shri R. Alager Swamy, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, N&MA, Shri Deepanshu Vohra, Assistant Commissioner, Rangat and officers of the concerned line Departments.

During the visit to Primary Health Centre (PHC), Baratang, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the availability of medicines and other essential healthcare facilities. He directed the concerned officials to ensure timely procurement and maintain adequate stocks of essential medicines to prevent any inconvenience to patients. He also instructed the Executive Engineer concerned to expedite the construction of the dialysis unit so that patients requiring dialysis services can access treatment locally without having to travel to distant healthcare facilities.

The Deputy Commissioner subsequently visited the Ranchi settlement area at Vijay Garh-I to review the status of road development works. Emphasising the importance of all-weather road connectivity for residents, he directed the concerned officials to expedite the work and ensure its completion after obtaining the requisite No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Forest authorities, in accordance with the applicable procedures.

At Khara Nallah, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the road-related issues raised by the local residents and assured that the matter would be taken up on priority during the forthcoming meeting of the District Planning Committee (DPC) for appropriate consideration and necessary action. The issue of mobile network connectivity, arising from the non-functional mobile tower in the area, was also brought to his notice. The matter was noted for taking up with the concerned authorities to facilitate the restoration of mobile connectivity and improve communication services for the local population.
