
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 16: The two-day Deepawali SHG Mela under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission to promote rural entrepreneurship and provide a marketing platform for Self Help Group (SHG) members by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM), under the aegis of the Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs, got underway at Marina Park stretch here this evening.
A total of 60 stalls has been setup at the venue, showcasing a wide range of products made by SHG members under DAY-NRLM and other participating institutions. The event aims to encourage local artisans, strengthen livelihood opportunities, and boost rural economic activities ahead of the festive season. Dr. Apurva Sharma, Director (RD/ Panchayat)/ State Mission Director (ANIRLM) interacted with the SHG Members and motivated them to bring more products.
The Mela is attracting enthusiastic participation from SHG members and visitors, creating a vibrant platform for cultural exchange, promotion of traditional crafts, and festive celebrations. The Mela which began today will also be held from 3 pm to 9 pm tomorrow (Oct. 17).
