Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 15: A delegation of Nagarpallika Swachhtha Karmachari Sangh (NSKS) in the leadership of Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM) today met Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS Secretary, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council in the chamber of Secretary, SVPMC to discuss the issues related to working class in which long pending issues and regular matters related to Sanitary workers were discussed in length.
Firstly, the Secretary conveyed that the long and continuous pressing demand of weekly off to all DRMs were implemented in all wards and on rotation all workers will get off for which they are eligible. We expressed our gratitude to work in the interest of workers of SVPMC. In the same line, the request was also confirmed that the protective gear and basic needs of broom, soap etc. will be issued regularly.
Some of the workers were having name error in the EPF and Service Record for which the Secretary assured that the list of such workers may be provided accordingly a camp will be organised for them and convey them the path to correct the records or if possible, the rectification can be done at office level.
Regarding the coverage of ESIC to all workers, the Secretary conveyed that the detailed proposal may be given by which it can discussed and try to get a path way for their cashless treatment in a better hospital at mainland. The Death Insurance coverage carried out by Police department was also proposed to implement in the SVPMC for which a good discussion was held and assured to go through the proposal and regarding the payment of premium from whose part need to be discussed, will get it in a later stage after deliberation will all stake holders.
To enhance the appearance of the Sanitary workers, a better all weather wearing uniform will be considered after going through the financial aspect and very soon a positive decision will arrive to effect all workers. Regarding the basic facilities of toilet, wash room, drinking water facility, Secretary told that the nearby Community hall or other assets will be attached with the nearby Sanitary sections and try to resolve all issues and try to bring a better working atmosphere.
The delegation led by Shri. Jaydeep Kumar Dey, President, ANRKM and Shri. S. Biju Pillai, General Secretary, ANRKM alongwith the representatives of NSKS Shri. Shyam Sunder Rao, President, Shri. A. Palaniandi, Secretary and Shri. Y. Santosh Kumar, Finance Secretary were present in the meeting.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the Secretary and requested to continue the dialogue for a smoother way of redressing the grievances of working class.
