Sri Vijaya Puram, July 10: The Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration, launched the Pilot roll out of the Framework for Fertilizer Sale (FFS) today in two pilot districts of South Andaman & North & Middle Andaman. The digital platform developed to ensure transparent, efficient and farmer-friendly distribution of subsidized fertilizers across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The FFS integrates a mobile application with the Point of Sale (PoS) system and the Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS), enabling farmers to book fertilizers in advance from the reserve stock, generate a QR code/token and conveniently purchase fertilizers from designated Sub-depots.
Ahead of the launch, the Department conducted extensive awareness and training programmes across the Islands, with active participation from farmers, PRI members, PACS, FPOs, SHGs, Farmer Friends, fertilizer retailers and extension personnel, facilitating the successful rollout of the platform. The FFS is accessible through the mobile application, web portal and designated facilitation centres across the Islands. Aadhaar-based biometric e-KYC or OTP authentication ensures secure and transparent service delivery.
With the launch of the FFS, the Department of Agriculture has taken a major initiative to modernize fertilizer distribution through digital governance. The platform is expected to improve transparency, strengthen inventory management, reduce waiting time, enhance accountability and ensure timely availability of subsidized fertilizers to genuine farmers across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The Department has appealed the farmers to make use of the FFS platform and avail themselves of the benefits of the new digital system. Technical support and assistance will continue to be provided through Departmental field functionaries and designated facilitation centers to ensure smooth implementation and wider adoption of the initiative.
