Tournament Aimed to Raise Awareness About Drug-Free Lifestyle Among Youths

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 26: The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, A&N Administration in association with Mr. Youday has organized the 2nd Edition of the Arm-Wrestling Tournament – 2025 at Marina Park, Sri Vijaya Puram on July 26, 2025 for sports enthusiasts across various weight categories. The primary motto of the tournament was to raise awareness about a drug-free lifestyle among the youth, using sports as a medium to inspire healthy and disciplined living. The event aimed to promote physical fitness and showcase individual strength and endurance. Participants competed in various weight divisions, with exceptional performances observed particularly in the 45 kg to 90 kg and above categories. The results in different age categories are as follows:
Winner (Men): 45-55 Kg: Shri. Suresh Biswas, 55-65 Kg: Shri. Hirday, 65-75 Kg: Shri. Baskar Rao, 75-85 Kg: Shri. Bibhuti Biswas, 90 Kg above: Shri. Anoop N.K.
Winner (Girls): 30 – 50 Kg: Kumari. Nithi, 50 and above: Kumari. Faith
The event attracted a large and enthusiastic audience, who enjoyed the thrilling matches and expressed strong interest in sports and fitness. The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs maintained its focus on organizing such events regularly to encourage greater participation in sports, cultivate a culture of fitness, and promote positive values among the community, especially the younger generation. Spreading awareness about drug abuse prevention and building a healthy, drug-free society remains a core objective of these initiatives. The main highlight of the event is that the Island Girls has shown interest and participated in the event.
On this occasion, Shri. Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Special Secretary (Science) who graced the event as the chief guest, addressed and blessed the participants.
Further, the prize i.e. medals and trophies was awarded to the winners and runners-up by Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Sports), Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers and officials for their contribution in making the event a grand success.
