Department of Transport in Collaboration with SBI RSETI Launches New Scheme for Women Called ‘SARATHINI’

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug, 18: The Department of Transport under Andaman & Nicobar Administration in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI) and its Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), has launched a new scheme called “SARATHINI”. The scheme aims to provide free Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving training to women, especially from poor and underprivileged backgrounds, gain driving skills for employment and self-reliance. The following groups aging 18+ will be given preference during selection viz. Scheduled Tribe (ST) women; Women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families; Women who are members of Self Help Groups (SHGs); Women from families registered under MGNREGA who worked at least 35 days last year. This entrepreneurship training initiative is a significant step towards women empowerment and skill development in the Islands, helping women become self-reliant and enabling them to explore employment and self-employment opportunities. All eligible applicants are requested to make use of this opportunity and submit their applications in the prescribed format which is available in the website of the Transport Department addressed to Director (Transport) O/o Directorate of Transport, Sri Vijaya Puram within 7 days.
