
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 4: ‘Cuisines of India Festival- 2025’ with vibrant theme #desidelights, showcasing India’s diverse culinary traditions, got off to vibrant start with its inauguration at the ITF Pavilion here today. Being organized by the Tourism Department, A & N Administration, as part of the ongoing series of events, fairs, and festivals in collaboration with the Food Safety Department and other line Departments, the Secretary (Tourism), Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, as the chief guest inaugurated the event in the presence of the Director (Tourism), Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Tourism Stakeholders, officials of Tourism Department and general public. The chief guest was accorded a warm welcome by the Nicobarese tribe with presentation of traditional garland. The Tourism (Secretary) accompanied by the Director visited the stalls, interacted with participants and took keen interest in the wide array of delicacies being offered at the stalls.
This three-day event, a celebration of India’s diverse culinary traditions, invites food lovers on a mouth-watering journey through regional flavors, traditional recipes, and the country’s rich food culture. People were seen visiting a variety of Live Kitchen Stalls put up by the local favourites, renowned hoteliers/restaurants etc. These stalls have brought to life the tastes of different regions of India, offering everything from savory dishes to delightful sweets. Alongside the live kitchens, Cultural Cuisine of the Nicobari Tribal Community is also there, offering a glimpse into the unique food traditions of Nicobari people.
A dedicated stall of SHGs from the Rural Development Department focusing on empowering women-led food enterprises and promoting the talents of local self-help groups has also been set up. The SHG groups have displayed their home-made products in the festival. Around 24 stalls and 5 Kiosks selling different kinds of savories and delicacies have been set up at the venue. People can explore the stalls for their favorite cuisines and flavours from across the country.
To add to the charm, Orchestra performances coordinated by the Art & Culture Department was also organized to ensure that visitors not only enjoy mouthwatering food but also engages in live music in a lively & cultural setting. The artistes of Unity Orchestra (Live Band) and Dream World entertained the gathering at the venue with their melodious songs and presentations.
This festival aims to promote diversity, healthy eating, traditional culinary knowledge, and community spirit, providing a platform for local talent and entrepreneurs. ‘Cuisines of India Festival 2025’ which started today will continue at the ITF Pavilion from 4 pm to 10 pm on July 5 and 6, 2025.
