Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 17: The Directorate of Health Services, in collaboration with the UT Health Mission, organized an awareness program to mark World Pneumonia Day, the SAANS Campaign, and National Newborn Week on Nov. 15 at the Community Hall, Wimberlygunj.
Inaugurating the programme, Ms. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Bambooflat as the chief guest emphasized the importance of ensuring that children receive all recommended vaccinations. The guest of honor, Shri Venkat Ram Babu, Pradhan, GP Wimberlygunj commended the Health Department for organizing the awareness program in Wimberlygunj and for its ongoing efforts to educate the public on child health and disease prevention.
Dr. H. M. Siddaraju, Deputy Director (Family Welfare) highlighted the significance of the SAANS campaign, measures for pneumonia prevention, and the importance of observing National Newborn Week. Paediatrician Dr. Nazeera briefed the audience on the signs and symptoms of pneumonia and dispelled common myths associated with the disease.
Dr. Felicitus, Medical Officer (I/c), PHC Wimberlygunj welcomed the address while Dr. Shweta proposed the vote of thanks.
Adding to the spirit of the event, cultural performances were organized by the Gram Panchayat Wimberlygunj, featuring enthusiastic participation from school children, Anganwadi Centres, and ASHA workers.
