
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 13: As part of World Population Day, a ‘Pariwar Vikas Mela’ was organised by Directorate of Health Services in association with UT Health Mission with the Slogan “Jab Bachon Mein Ho Sahi Antral, Pariwar Bane Swasth Aur Khushal” at Community Hall Guptapara under the jurisdiction of PHC Manglutan on July 11.
Dr. H.M Siddaraju, Director of Health Services, A&N Administration as the chief guest emphasised on the importance of right age for marriage, adoption of family planning methods while the guest of honour, Shri. Durlabh Das, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Guptapara stressed on the importance of family planning and the needs for population control and healthy family planning adoption practices.
In her address, Dr. Shiny Varghese, Deputy Director (FW) spoke about population explosion including their impact on development and the need for family planning and reproductive health.
Various Family Planning methods, balanced and nutritive diet, cheap & easy available vegetables, fruits for women and children were demonstrated, different posters on Family Planning methods and Family Welfare Programmes were displayed. A Nukkad Natak was presented by ASHA workers to create awareness among the general public. A short yoga session was conducted by Ms. T. Anisha (Y.I).
The programme was started with welcome by Dr. Harpreet Kaur, CHO, PHC Manglutan while the program concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Annie Medical Officer, Incharge, PHC Manglutan.
