
Diglipur, July 1: As part of 76th Van Mahotsav celebration, the Diglipur Forest Division organized a tree plantation drive at Fish Landing Centre, Durgapur today. Shri Kamleshwar Rao. S, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, North Andaman graced the occasion as chief guest. The tree plantation drive was conducted in the presence of Dr. S.H.K. Murti, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Diglipur. The Pradhans, the PRI members, Fishermen community of Durgapur village and staff & officers of Department of Environment & Forest participated in this green movement.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest congratulated the Deptt. of Environment & Forest for maintaining the greenery in the islands and undertaking such plantation drive during the celebration of 76th Van Mahotsav. Speaking on the occasion, the DFO Diglipur emphasized the importance of conservation of unique flora and fauna of the Island and urged each and every one present on the occasion to extend their hand in conservation of the environment. The Assistant Conservator of Forests, Diglipur read out the message of Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and proposed the vote of thanks.
