Director Education/ Sports Vikram Singh Inaugurates New Sports Hub at Sawai Village

Car Nicobar, Jan. 8: The Director of Education and Sports, Directorate of Youths Affairs, Shri Vikram Singh, today inaugurated a new Sports Hub at Sawai Village, continuing his commitment to nurturing youth talent through sports. This initiative builds on his earlier launch of the Football for Schools (F4S) program in October 2025, aimed at promoting football as a tool for education, holistic development, and instilling a robust sports culture among students.

The F4S program is a comprehensive effort to engage children under the age of 17, with a special focus on the 8-17 age group. The initiative also extends its reach to the youth both men and women of Car Nicobar’s villages, offering them intensive football coaching and encouraging their active participation in sports.

A total of 9 Sports Hubs has been established across Car Nicobar in Tamaloo, Kakana, Sawai, Chukchucha, Tapoiming, Big Lapathy, Arong, Mus, and Sawai Villages. These hubs have been strategically located near schools and available playgrounds to maximize accessibility. To facilitate the coaching sessions, PETs and Nodal Teachers have been designated at each hub to conduct football training during evening hours.

Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Vikram Singh emphasized the significance of sports in the overall development of students, highlighting how the initiative will not only improve physical fitness but also build teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills. He stressed that football, in particular, provides an excellent platform for young people to engage constructively in their communities while developing a sense of self-confidence and sportsmanship.

The inauguration event was attended by Headman of respective Villages, Teachers, school students and Sports eminent all of whom are eager to participate in the football coaching sessions.
